City of Tempe Fire Department Chooses ESS Crisis on Demand Software to Manage Emergency Response Operations
Tempe, Ariz. (Vocus) October 5, 2007 -- ESS, the leading provider of Environmental, Health & Safety (EH&S) and Crisis Management software (www.ess-home.com) for Governance, Risk and Compliance. (GRC), announced today that the Tempe, Arizona Fire Department has selected the on-demand version of ESS Crisis(TM) to manage its daily planning and emergency event mitigation at the city?s emergency operations center.
ESS Crisis is an integrated information management system that gives state and local emergency response officials the ability to quickly mobilize and support response teams, manage incident scenes and assist with post-event recovery operations. The software also helps professionals streamline daily operations as well as conduct effective planning and field exercises before an event happens.
The on-demand version of ESS Crisis offers many technological and cost-saving benefits to users because it is not hosted on their local server. The solution is supported by off-site, redundant IT systems for increased data security; organizations with limited IT budgets benefit from reduced internal infrastructure costs; and organizations save time by not having to be responsible for daily maintenance of system hardware.
City officials are expected to use ESS Crisis when they participate in TOPOFF 4, short for Top Official, an exercise supervised by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security to test federal, state and local preparedness and response capabilities during a complex simulation of a terrorist attack.
TOPOFF 4, which will take place October 15-24 at several venues in Arizona and Oregon, is designed to strengthen the nation's capacity to prevent, protect against, respond to, and recover from terrorist attacks involving weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). The exercise provides an opportunity for local, state, and federal agencies to coordinate emergency preparedness efforts. There will be 10,000 participants, including officials from Arizona and Oregon; overseas support from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Guam; and with the full-scale tests of collective preparedness, and interoperability.
?ESS Crisis will be an important support tool for Tempe responders who are participating at TOPOFF 4, and our day-to-day operations, because, it enables us to streamline communications and data systems used to share information during crises,? said Fred Guelich, technical services, record management for the Tempe Fire Department. ?We believe having the software in operation for TOPOFF 4 will allow us to put our best foot forward in responding to the scenarios that are created for us.?
?A growing number of responder agencies are using ESS Crisis to prepare for large scale crises,? said Robert Johnson, ESS President and CEO. ?For more than 25 years, ESS crisis management solutions have supported government agencies in responding to or preparing for major emergency events from the Oklahoma City bombing to major exercises like TOPOFF 4. We are honored that our software solutions are being leveraged by front line responders to shape the future of emergency management response.?
