Mobile-FYI to Provide Alert and Notification Solution for the City of Kissimmee and Toho Water Authority
Governor's Hurricane Conference, Fort Lauderdale, Fla. (PRWEB) May 15, 2007 -- Mobile-FYI, Inc. ("FYI"), a leading provider of innovative, life altering mobile solutions for today's society-on-the-go, today announced that the Company has signed a Letter of Intent with the City of Kissimmee ("City") to provide an alert and notification solution through the FYI Mobile Dynamic Portal ("MDP").
FYI's mission is to offer a comprehensive mobile messaging platform for broadcasting organizations to distribute relevant and timely text-based messaging alerts and notifications (known as ChoiceAlerts) to cellular phone subscribers. A recent Forrester Research study cited roughly 35 percent of the entire mobile phone subscriber population in the U.S. has used text messaging … a simple and inexpensive way to communicate important information with students on campus, people within communities and others. The Company's proprietary technology offers an efficient, scalable and effective solution for:
♦ Broadcasters to communicate with their communities, customers and members
♦ Subscribers to gain beneficial information about emergency situations and requested offers
♦ Advertisers and sponsors to reach potential customers with the highest returns on their promotional investments.
This pilot program agreement, revealed today at the 2007 Florida Governor's Hurricane Conference, will be utilized by both the City and the Toho Water Authority ("TOHO") to communicate and interact with the community and utility customers via text message alerts--especially with expectations for an active 2007 hurricane season that begins in a few weeks. Signing up for alerts will be available at FYI's www.registermycell.com site or through other City and TOHO channels to be announced at a later date.
Under the letter of intent, FYI will provide the City and TOHO with a web-based SMS text messaging distribution solution and behavioral database system. The City and TOHO will be able to utilize the FYI services without incurring any usage costs, based on the agreed terms for alert sponsors to pay for the text alert efforts with opt-in subscribers that request advertisements, alerts, notifications and reminders.
"The ability to communicate during a catastrophic or man-made disaster is crucial to saving the lives of our citizens," said Kissimmee Police Chief Fran Iwanski. "This type of emergency alert and notification solution will help the City to communicate quickly and effectively with those members of the public who sign up for the service. In this age of wireless communications using the FYI solutions, it will be possible to send emergency messages to thousands of users quickly."
If the pilot phase between FYI and the City runs successfully and both parties are satisfied with the relationship and results, the City will proceed with an expanded agreement to use the FYI MDP for various other alert and notification efforts with the community.
"FYI was started to offer cities, municipalities and other organizations with a reliable and effective method of connecting with community members to alert them about emergency situations and safety information--especially hurricanes and other weather-related dangers," said S. Matthew Meyerson, FYI's CEO. "While we have been assisting all kinds of organizations--including schools and universities, utilities, retailers and others with text messaging solutions--our main focus is still to reinforce the efforts of government departments and non-profits, like the City of Kissimmee, to interact with members in critical times with relevant quality of life and life-alerting information."
